Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology is involved in Geoscience research in the Himalayan region maintaining the legacy of Dr DN Wadia and past contributions of the institute. Besides doing basic research on the evolution of the Himalaya and its structural setup, it is deeply involved in the aspects related to geohazards (earthquakes, landslides), glaciology, and georesources which have strong societal and economic benefits. The relevance of the institute has increased multifold due to the looming threat from climate change, developmental activities, recent incidences of landslides, earthquakes, water scarcity, and due to increasing demand of minerals.
