Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG) is situated in Dehradun ('Dera' meaning 'camp' and 'Dun' or 'Doon' meaning 'river valley') capital of the state of Uttarakhand (India). Dehradun is 230 kilometers from New Delhi, India's capital. Geographically, Dehradun is located in between 29

Buses, both general and AC Delux, operated by State transport corporation roadways frequently leave from ISBT Dehradun to all important places in and around Dehradun. Private taxis can also be arrange for travel from travel agencies. ISBT, WIHG is 4 km from the city.

Climate:
Dehradun is a valley between the Himalayan Frontal Thrust (HFT) and the Main Boundary Thrust (MBT). The MBT along with the Lesser Himalayan sequence has been thrust over the Siwalik sequence of the Sub-Himalaya. The location of the city in the foothills of the Himalaya (Mussoorie) makes it climate moderate, i.e., neither too hot nor too cold. Summers are replenished with plenty of rain and are generally mild warm.
