Sophisticated analytical instrument facilities in the Institute are run by competent scientists and technicians. They provide facilities to research scientists of the Institute as well as to Universities and other organisations. Consultancies for site selection and geological mapping for geotechnical, environmental and hydropower projects are also provided by the Institute.

The Institute has well equipped laboratories and specialized high level experts to provide consultancy services related to geotechnical, geohydrology, micropalaeontology, sedimentology, economic geology, seismology and environmental aspects.

Also Institute provides analytical services for various kinds of analysis of rocks and minerals on payment basis. Large number of students and research workers from Universities under different projects avail these facilities.
